Unconditional Surrender

Unconditional Surrender is a 25-foot, 6,000 lb statue created by artist J. Seward Johnson. The statue represents a photograph of a sailor kissing a nurse, that was taken in 1945, by Alfred Eisenstaedt in Times Square, New York City. The photograph was taken during a celebration of the end of World War II. The statue is located in the Port of San Diego, next to the USS Midway.
